Fishing Report

Lake Wisconsin Fishing Report May 25, 2012

What a difference from just a few short weeks ago. The bite this past weekend on Lake Wisconsin was simply fantastic. That’s not to say we caught a bunch of giant walleyes or saugers. That didn’t happen. But we did catch one heck of a pile of fish and they weren’t all shorties for a change either.

We found most of our fish in the 12-15′ depth range but we also deviated into much shallower water at times to check for active fish. Most of the shallow spots didn’t produce for us but several of our better fish did come from as little as 5′ of water. It might surprise some people to hear those fish were caught directly under the boat.

Over the course of two days, five different clients boated 104 walleyes & saugers, plus several crappies in the 13-14″ range. Of that total, 30 were legal size or bigger fish and the rest were shorts below the 15″ size limit.

Our top technique for the weekend by far was slow trolling crawler rigs. Actually, that was the only technique we used the entire weekend. Why switch to something else when what your doing is working great?

Get out there and catch some walleyes while the fishing good!
